The Ordination of Yvonne Washington-Turay
November 16, 2008

Ordination is a special ceremony that has been set aside for those whom God has consecrated into his service. It is not to be taken lightly.

Psalm 4: 3 “Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself …”

Yvonne’s Statement of Consecration:

As a young child, I wanted to be a Nun. I didn’t understand, at that time, that it was God calling me to service. I was not raised in a Christian home, but my mom made sure I went to the Catholic Church, was baptized, made my first communion and my confirmation. Later, life got in the way. I struggled to find the “God” in my life. By the Grace of God, during the `1990’s I began to experience the beginnings of my call. There were many intense hours in the scriptures, church meetings, bible study, gospel choir and more. God put strong men and women in my life to guide me, my father being one. He received his calling at age 65 and preached for 24 years. Before he died he gave me the commission: “Yvonne, he said, stay in the Army.” And I replied; “For God I live and For God I die. Truly I love the Lord and I dedicated my life to him long before this day. I would like to thank Pastor Toi Thomas and the members of the International Gospel Center for recognizing the call of God on my life. Please pray my strength in the Lord.

With Love in Christ,

Minister Yvonne Washington-Turay MSN, FNP-BC
